Baby Brooks’ Nursery

I am so excited to finally share our nursery with you all. We worked SO hard on this nursery. We knew we wanted to bring a piece of California into baby’s nursery since it’s the state that we met, fell in love, and started our marriage. I didn’t want to go straight “ocean themed” but I wanted to add small nautical details. I think we did a great job. Continue reading for pictures, links, and more!

We partnered with Million Dollar Baby for our big pieces (crib, glider, and dresser). I wanted neutral pieces of furniture that we could potentially use again with baby number 2!

Our glider is SO comfortable. I know I’ll be spending so much time rocking baby Brooks in it. Our room has so much natural light which I love but I know it needs to be dark for baby. We found these black out curtains on wayfair and they work SO well. The room is pitch black even in the middle of the day! We also added the cute nautical curtain tie’s. The biggest statement piece in baby’s room is probably the name sign. We purchased it on Etsy and then stained it in a “weathered grey” stain. Super easy to do! You could also paint it.

We’re planning to use this dresser as a changing table as well (tip: buy a dresser only and then the dresser can grow with baby, past diapers!) We’re getting a Keekaroo peanut changer to place on top of the dresser. These paintings are super special. Robert got these as a birthday present when he was in high school! They have moved with him from Santa Cruz, to San Diego, and now into his baby boy’s room! I can’t link these but I’ve linked some similar options.

Our crib wall was such a fun project. For me. For Robert, not so much! He hates wallpaper LOL but I had this vision and he executed it perfectly (another tip- marry a perfectionist engineer, best choice I ever made). We started with the board and batten wall paneling. If you want a full tutorial on this, send me a message on IG and I’ll have Robert do a breakdown! We painted that with Behr Treasure Map. We didn’t need to be too careful since we knew we’d be putting wallpaper on the top part of the wall. The wallpaper is peel and stick. This was intentional. If baby number 2 is a girl, we can repaint the board and batten and pick a new wall paper! Easy! Our biggest time saver for designing this room was investing in a paint sprayer. We saw a TikTok video of someone painting an entire room in no time with a paint sprayer and immediately got into the car and went to Home Depot to find one. I think Robert spend maybe 30 minutes TOTAL painting the entire room. For under 200 bucks, it was completely worth it. We will use it for future projects too!

As for the crib details, I linked our crib in the beginning of this post! I also wanted to highlight a few items for the crib. We ended up going with the Newton crib mattress. It is super breathable and I like the idea that you can hose the whole thing down. We did pottery barn sheets with little whales on them, another ocean tie in. They are SO soft. We also did a crib skirt in the color Indigo. I’m still trying to pick out sleep sacks for when we transition Brooks to his crib so if you have any recommendations, please let me know!

A few other pieces I grabbed to make the nursery more cozy are the ottoman, round rug, and bookshelves. I wanted a big round rug for tummy time and I found the perfect one at a local spot, but I will link a similar option! I needed an ottoman for my feet when I’m rocking baby and Target had one that fit the room! When it comes to the book shelves, I wanted a pop of color so I wanted the books to be displayed! These acrylic shelves are perfect for that. Most shelves I found were really short so I did a ton of research to find these longer versions!

Something else we got but I didn’t photograph was a nursing cart to keep next to the glider. I’m keeping the top shelf clear so I can put the hatch, my water bottle, kindle, etc on it. I’m filling the rest of the cart with burp cloths, pumping supplies, pacifiers, etc. So I do have somewhere to put all the things while I’m rocking baby! Full blog post on the nursing cart will be live soon!

And there you have it! I think I have linked ALL the nursery items for you! Big thanks to Million Dollar Baby for partnering with us. If you have any questions at all, please DM me on instagram. I absolutely loved making this space calm and cozy, and I can’t wait to show Brooks his new room. xoxo, Molly
